THE TOPGUN’s
STRENGTH© (RANKED IN
ORDER) |
1.
Ambitious / Achievement-oriented I have been
driven by my desire to be successful. I learn from the
experiences of the successful people around me. As an
incoming salesperson, I watched how other older members
of the team received rewards for their achievements. I
wanted to do the same. Because of this I worked to reach
my goals and make my supervisor trust me. As a result,
he assigned me more work so I could be promoted and
received rewards.
2. Articulate I love
to talk to people. It helps me practice my communication
skills, which I think is very important in the business
world. As a salesperson, I explain to potential
customers clearly the functions and benefits of our
products. I also help my coworkers understand the
company’s more complicated products. Having good
communication skills helps me understand the customer’s
needs develop programs according to the customer’s
requirements. The customers then opt for my products.
3. Responsible Throughout my career I have
always made it a priority to fulfill my responsibilities
to my company and complete all assignments on time. For
example, I was recently asked to develop a data
processing program for a client, a complicated project
that involved many late nights reviewing specifications
and fixing problems. Although I struggled with various
programming issues, in the end I met my deadline and
launched the program successfully. My dedication to my
work makes me an asset to my department. My colleagues
know they can rely on me to stay focused and submit
quality work on time. 4. Compromising /
Tolerant Many times during my career, I have
found myself in the position to negotiate a compromise
between competing interests. For example, my company
recently instituted a controversial new policy that
penalized employees who were late to work by deducting
certain amounts from their salary. The move upset many
employees. In situations such as these, I always try to
take the initiative in finding common ground and
bringing a conflict to an end. In an effort to calm the
tensions between workers and management, I proposed a
new policy that would take into account each employee’s
work performance. This compromise was accepted by both
sides, and led to a more efficient, peaceful work
environment. 5. Able to deliegate responsibilities
to others Sometimes I take on too many
responsibilities. As a result I have become used to
delegating some of my work to others. I try to match
tasks to the people who are most qualified to complete
them. This frees up my time and allows me to tend to my
more important responsibilities. In the past, some
projects would go unfinished because of my obsession to
overwork myself. By delegating responsibilities to
others, I am able to capitalize on the skills of others
and facilitate projects through to completion, thereby
increasing overall performance. Delegating
responsibilities contributes to the success of the
projects by effectively using the skills of others,
dividing the work and increasing the likelihood of on
time completion.
